Terramar Thermasilk 100% Pure Silk Scoop Baselayer Top: Natural Comfort and Warmth

Living at almost 9,000 ft means baselayers are necessary almost year-round. This winter I've stayed warm wearing Terramar's Thermasilk 100% Pure Silk top. It's a perfect light- to mid-weight baselayer.

I first wore my Thermasilk while fishing on the Taylor River near Almont, CO. The weather that day matched my current fishing streak and attitude--subpar, at best. It was breezy, about 20-degrees F (actually, with the wind chill factor, it was more like 10-15 degrees), with snow flurries. I was really glad I had a warm, wicking layer against my skin. My Thermasilk top is silky soft and fit perfectly under my snug-fitting fleece.

Whenever I needed to dip my hands into the river, usually to retrieve snags, I pushed up my sleeves and they stayed put right below my elbows without the cuffs becoming uncomfortable. It's a small detail, but I really appreciated this feature throughout the day.

After fishing, I went to my favorite watering hole with my husband. I had no time to change so I threw on a tee shirt over my Thermasilk top and headed out the door. Once we were comfortably settled at our table I began reviewing the day, and realized that I'd been concerned with catching fish all day and hadn't really thought about the weather once I got into it. To be able to focus on my outdoor activity without distraction is a great sign that I got what I needed from my performance apparel. I like that!

I have to admit that when I first saw Terramar's Thermasilk top I wasn't sure it was work for me because it looked too refined, with its scoop neck and delicate, jacquard patterened fabric (100% silk), to be functional outdoors. I was so wrong. I've worn this top for a variety of outdoor winter pursuits, as well as for travel, and I've felt a bit spoiled every time. It's given me the warmth I needed in a very thin layer. It also dries quickly, so I can wear it post-activity and not feel clammy. I think Terramar really nailed it with the Thermasilk line.
