Looptworks is based in Portland, OR and makes men's and women's apparel out of reclaimed fabrics. They scour the globe to find excess material from a variety of manufacturers, then use these "leftovers" to create unique tops, jackets, and skirts. Cool.
I like the Looptworks Perai Hoodie because it's loose-fitting and casual like my favorite old sweatshirts, but better than a sweatshirt because I don't have to pull it over my head to take it off or put it on. This top has a full-length zipper, like a jacket. Nice.
The Perai Hoodie is made out of a stretchy, heavy ribbed cotton, with wide contrast ribbing along the bottom and around the wrists that remind me of my old track jacket. This same ribbing is repeated at the shoulder seams for stylish effect.
I like the kangaroo-style pockets, which are plenty roomy for days when it's chilly enough to need pockets but not so cold I'd remember to wear gloves. There's also a snap-sealed pocket on top of the left front pocket. The cover flap of this pocket is made out of a stretchy, thin-wale corduroy, as is a decorative matching fabric panel that runs along the top os the zipper on the opposite side of the jacket.
The Perai Hoodie is available in men's sizes M-XXL. I'm usually a size L, and found the jacket true to size with a baggy fit. The top comes in Chocolate, Sand, Night Blue, and Light Blue.
Eco Creds: Made out of reclaimed fabrics.
Bottom Line: I like knowing that I'm wearing a unique top that also has eco creds.--B.M. (May '10)
